I have always been fascinated with food. The look of a cookie or cake as it rises in the oven, the smell of cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla all working together, the sound of a spoon as it scrapes against a bowl. That moment when you just know that everything is going to come out delicious. And that first bite. That taste of perfection.
I can remember baking cookies with my mom for Christmas. Mom would always make sugar cookies at Christmas even though she hated how they tasted. My sisters and I would spend hours decorating them to look like what we thought were works of art. And that’s the root of why I love to bake. It’s one of those activities you can share with the young and the old. Living in another state baking has always been that activity that can instantly connect me to my family no matter where I am.
